Last Saturday, my friend was around my neighborhood for Kamikazee’s shirt design launch and asked if I could go out and grab some lunch. Of course, I came. We were not craving for anything in particular so we walked around to see which place to dine. We saw an ad banner for Rib City while walking and decided that it’s too hot and sunny to walk along the whole stretch of Maginhawa so we’re going to have some ribs for lunch.
I think the Rib City is quite new. I have walked a lot near Holy Family and haven’t noticed it before. The place is inside a compound so it’s not really visible when you’re along the streets unless you really were looking for it. The restaurant is relatively small and seats about 24 diners inside and no al fresco dining. The design is simple, clean and industrial with steel chairs opposite banquette seats. They have blocks in a tray which you can play with while waiting for your order.
Since Rib City specializes in ribs, we decided to order the Suburban (Php218) which consists of ribs, a side dish and a cup of rice. The plating was simple. The ribs were tender and have a spicy kick. It was okay but I think my order lacked sauce. I ordered mashed potatoes for my sides and I liked its consistency. It was creamy with a hint of cheese. The rice was ordinary. It said CTY rice on the menu so I was hoping it was something special but it tastes like plain rice colored with turmeric and salt. All in all, they serve a decent steak dish worth the price you pay for.
We weren’t really able to order other items from their menu because we were both in a hurry for our after lunch commitments but we’ll be back definitely to try their other specialties.
